A piece of the Digital Land near Westminster Abbey. This is the main shrine of England. Since 1066, all monarches of the United Kingdom have been crowned here, 18 of them are buried here too. The relics of St. Edward the Confessor are buried in the Abbey pantheon, and thousands of pilgrims flock to touch them. The greatest literary figures of England are buried in the well-known Poets' Corner – W. Shakespeare, W. Scott, J. Byron, Ch. Dickens, Ch. Bronte, R. Kipling, A. Tennyson, O. Wilde, J. Austen, L. Carroll.
However, tourists are truly fascinated by the Abbey’s treasury, which contains the masterpieces of pictorial and monumental art, amazing tapestries and church utensils of rare beauty. The famous wooden coronation throne built in 1300, with the legendary Stone of Scone – the Stone of Destiny is also located here.
A recognized silhouette of the Abbey, with two towers and numerous openwork arches, its striking stained-glass windows and richly decorated interiors always attract a lot of tourists. Every year, more than 1.2 million people come here.
Visitors can spend the whole day in Westminster Abbey. There are not only magnificent historical monuments, but also authentic souvenir shops, cafe and restaurants. In addition, concerts of spiritual and secular music are held here all the time.
