Lincoln Center, New York, USA
The Digital Land plot on the territory of the largest art center in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century this area was not fancy at all and with plenty of miserable slums of the Upper West side. This area was described in the famous musical "West Side Story". However, in 1950 the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Philharmonic came together to create a new cultural space there. The project was headed by a representative of the Rockefeller dynasty – John Davis III. It was he who collected the bulk of the funds - over 184 million dollars and 30 years of work were spent on the arrangement of the center.
Today the Lincoln Center is a complex of 12 buildings designed by the best architects. More than 400 performances and concerts are shown on 29 stages every year. The main venues of the Lincoln Center include the famous Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, the New York Philharmonic, the Lincoln Jazz Center, and the Juilliard High School of Music. Getting tickets to the shows at the Lincoln Center is a great success, as they are sold out at the beginning of the season. Besides shows, excursions in the complex are also very popular and the guests are offered to look behind the scenes of several theaters at once and, possibly, to see world famous stars.
