Description

The Museum quarter, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Digital Land plot at the Amsterdam’s most popular tourist spot. The Museum Quarter is internationally renowned for its melting pot of art, history and culture. The area certainly has no shortage of attractions. It's home to the Van Gogh Museum, the world’s largest collection of Van Gogh’s artwork; the Rijksmuseum, famous for Rembrandt’s piece, “The Nightwatch;” and the Stedelijk, a modern art museum. South of Museumplein, world-famous Royal Concertgebouw concert hall can accommodate up to 2,000 people and is renowned for its outstanding acoustics. Here stands the oldest diamond polishing factory in Europe Coster Diamonds, where visitors can learn about the process of cutting diamonds. The most beautiful shopping streets in Amsterdam can be found in the Museum Quarter. The P.C. Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat and the small streets around it offer a wide range of haute couture clothing, leather shoes and designer handbags.
In 1999 the Museumplein was transformed from an old 19th-century paved square into a modern space with a large field and a pond at its center, which in the winter doubles up as an ice rink. Now the Museumplein is used for mass events. As well as hosting outdoor concerts, festivals and celebrations, contemporary art exhibitions are often held here
